South China Sea Fengyun Forum held in Haikou,China
The Seventh South China Sea Fengyun Forum was held in Haikou City, Hainan Province on November 11, 2017. Over 100 meteorologists gathered in Hainan to discuss meteorological scientific research achievements.
The theme of this forum is “typhoon, heavy rain, severe convective weather, and the ecological environment.”
Academician Qin Dahe from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Researcher Yu Guirui from the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Senior Research Engineer Bi Baogui from the National Meteorological Center of CMA, Dr. Cheng Cho-ming from Hong Kong Observatory, Professor Wang Jun from Dalian Maritime University, and Researcher Zhao Yanxia from the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences were specially invited to respectively deliver speeches “New Progress in Climate Change Science”, “Spatiotemporal Patterns of Atmospheric Nitrogen Deposition in China and Its Eco-environmental Effects”, "Progress and Thinking of Intelligent Weather Forecast", "Challenges and Opportunities for Modernization of Weather Service", "Sailing Weather Routing—Deep Integration of Meteorology and Maritime Affairs" and "China's Agricultural Insurance and Agricultural Weather Index."
In addition, experts from Peking University, the Numerical Weather Prediction Center of CMA, the Typhoon and Marine Weather Forecast Center of CMA, Shanghai Typhoon Institute, the Guangzhou Institute of Tropical and Marine Meteorology and other units delivered speeches mainly on typhoons, heavy rains and numerical weather prediction in the South China Sea. Over 120 meteorologists, coming from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences, the other seven scientific research institutes, Peking University, Dalian Maritime University, the National Meteorological Center of CMA, Hong Kong Observatory, the Hainan Branch of the Air Traffic Management Bureau of CAAC, Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Base and other meteorological bureaus of 17 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), attended the forum to discuss marine meteorology, ecological meteorology and the scientific research achievements in related fields. Also, the forum proceedings of this forum included 60 papers mainly on analysis, forecasting, and warnings of disastrous weather in recent years.
